SUP Ball: What Is It?
If you are looking for a game that you can play on your inflatable SUP then look no further than SUP Ball. SUP Ball is a game that is a combination of a few different sports including netball, water polo, rugby, and lacrosse. Of course, the entire game is played on SUPs!
SUP Ball takes flat water and turns it into a challenging match. This is an intense game but it can be adapted to be played by players of all levels. Therefore, whether someone is new to the game of SUP Ball or is considered a master, they can enjoy everything that SUP Ball has to offer! This is the most fun that someone can have on an
inflatable SUP!
The Match Format
First, it is important to learn the match format of SUP Ball. These matches are played between two separate teams of five. The two teams are facing in opposite directions. There can be a maximum of five subs per team.
In order to score a goal in SUP Ball, the match ball has to strike the goal buoys.
SUP Ball is played in a continuous format. There are two separate 15-minute halves separated by a break that lasts for five minutes.
Of note, there is no out of bounds during a game of SUP Ball. The entire water surface is the field.
The Rules of SUP Ball
There are two very different versions of SUP Ball that you might play. The first is the non-contact version. The second version is the contact version. If you play contact SUP Ball, this will get very intense and you will get wet. In contact SUP Ball, you can tackle or push other players off of their boards, creating an entirely new element of competition.
Once a player comes in possession of the ball, they have to stop paddling. If a player does not have at least half of his or her body on the board, he or she is not in play. He or she must get back on the board before he or she can make contact with the ball. Other players cannot prevent someone from getting back on their board, even in contact SUP Ball.
After a goal has been scored in SUP Ball, the ref should blow the whistle. Then, the team that scored the goal must paddle around their defensive buoy in order to be considered onside once again. Once they do this, the match will resume. Of note, players are not allowed to hug the goal buoy. This is a form of goaltending.
The ref has the right to remove players from the game for the following reasons. These include:
Foul play
Conduct that is considered unsportsmanlike
Use of excessive force
Repeated violations of the rules of SUP Ball
Tactics and Strategy in SUP Ball
If you are looking for a few tips that will help you in your next SUP Ball match, a few examples include:
You are allowed to play the ball with any part of your body plus your paddle
You are allowed to get on someone else’s board during contact SUP Ball and can do this to steal the ball or knock the player off-balance
You can advance the ball with short passes to yourself, which might make it faster to travel across the water
It is easiest to compete in SUP Ball if you are able to stand up on your SUP during the game
It is okay to leave a player back on defense but he or she cannot hug the goal buoy
These are a few tips that should help get you started in SUP Ball.

SUP Polo
If you are looking for a fun, challenging game to play, then SUP Polo is the sport for you. Using your
inflatable paddleboard, you can do just about everything in this sport as you compete against family members and friends. There are a few key points that you should keep in mind when it comes to SUP Polo.
What Is SUP Polo?
SUP Polo is a combination of multiple games including water polo and lacrosse. This game is best played on inflatable SUPs. Usually, there is an area of the water that has been sectioned off. This will act as the boundaries of the course. Alternatively, you can also play this sport in a swimming pool. While SUP Polo started as a form of a gimmick, it has spread quickly and is now one of the most popular team-based events that you can play on an inflatable SUP.
The Rules of SUP Polo
There are a few rules that you should follow when you play SUP Polo. Each team has three players, although this can be easily modified to add more players if you wish. Typically, each game is about six minutes long; however, if you feel you have the energy, you can extend the matches. At halftime, the teams switch the direction in which they are going.
There is a ball that has been designed to be played only with paddles. Try to play with paddles that have a bit of a curve to them. Your goal is to scoop or usher the ball along the water. Then, you try to fire the ball into the net of the other team.
The game is meant to be fast and short. If you fall in the water while playing SUP Polo, then you are doing something right! Of course, the team who ends up with the most goals at the end of the match is declared the winner! This is an intense game that provides you with a fun workout as well!
What Equipment Do You Need?
There are a few pieces of equipment that you will need in order to play SUP Polo. These include:
Enough inflatable SUPs for everyone who will be participating
Paddles that have curves or scoops on the end that allow you to launch a ball at the goal
Sometimes, there are fins that you can attach to the bottom of your SUP to make the board easier to turn as you play
You will need a small ball that is easy to move and shoot during SUP Polo
You will need two separate nets of the same size to act as goals
You should have something that you can use to mark the boundaries of the course
While you can play SUP Polo on just about any body of water, it is better to find calm water.
Tips and Tricks for SUP Polo
As you get started with SUP Polo, you will find that this is a demanding sport that is meant to be played at a fast pace. While beginners can certainly participate, this is a sport that requires a lot of quick maneuvers in order to be able to keep up with the other players. Therefore, you should practice paddling, balancing, turning, and scooping with your arms in order to get better at SUP Polo.
There are two versions of the sport. The first is the non-contact version where players are not supposed to make physical contact with each other. On the other hand, nudging the board is allowed. The other form of SUP Polo is a contact sport, where you can knock people into the water to get them to release the ball. Think of this as the contact that takes place during men’s lacrosse.
If you want to give SUP Polo a try, then you need to have the right board. Inflatable SUPs work the best for this sport. Therefore, take a look at the selection of boards from Dunn Rite Pool Products! Then, get out on the water and challenge a few other players to a game of SUP Polo!

SUP Yoga
If you are looking to get the most out of your
inflatable stand-up paddleboarding (SUP) experience, then you have probably heard about SUP yoga. Once you get comfortable with the basics of SUP yoga, you might be looking for ways to increase the challenge. Of course, in order to challenge yourself with SUP yoga, you need to have the right equipment. This is where an inflatable SUP can be helpful. An inflatable SUP is a little bit wider than most other SUP options. This means that you have more room to try advanced SUP yoga poses.
So, once you have the right inflatable paddleboard, it's time to take on a few more challenging SUP yoga poses. There are a few advanced SUP yoga poses that you might want to try.
SUP Yoga:The Forward Bend
While this might sound like a straightforward SUP yoga pose, it takes a lot of core strength and balance to pull this pose off correctly.
To complete this pose, start in the middle of the board. Place your feet in the center. Then, place your hands together. Inhale, then sweep your arms in and up. Your fingers should be interlaced above you.
Once your fingers are in place above you, exhale. As you breathe out, bow forward. Finally place your palms on the board in front of you, using a forward bend. This should expand your chest and work your car as you lean forward. Keep your feet firm on the board as you complete this pose to prevent it from shifting beneath your feet.
SUP Yoga: Side Angle and Warrior Two Pose
This is a popular advanced yoga pose that is made that much harder in SUP yoga. Start by standing in the middle of your board. Then, step your left foot all the way back. As you do this, your right knee should naturally form a 90-degree angle. Ensure that your left foot is perpendicular to your right foot. Then, take your right hand and place it diagonally on the ground. You should be able to use your right shoulder to stabilize your knee in the process. While this happens, extend your left arm and point it to the sky. Breathe in at your hips and focus your energy in the hamstrings. This is a pose that will work almost your entire body.
Finally, once you have held this position for a few seconds, inhale and raise up into the classic Warrior 2 position.
SUP Yoga: Advanced Downward Facing Dog
This position starts with you seated on your board. Your ships should be low. Your arms should be extended out. From this position, take a few, deep breaths. Inhale and exhale deliberately. After this, windmill your arms forward quickly. Your right foot should step back into the plank position as you do this.
Then, lower yourself, lift your heart, and transition into an upward facing dog. Then, on the exhale, transition yourself into the downward-facing dog position. This advanced motion is challenging on a paddleboard, but a few practice attempts should help you get this down.
SUP Yoga:The Headstand
Finally, the headstand is a classic advanced yoga pose. To complete this pose, come down to your knees. Then, interlace your fingers. Make sure that your elbows are shoulder-width apart. After this, place the crown of your head between your forearms. Your crown should be nice and flat. After this, lift up your hips. Walk your feet up toward your face. Keep your hips above your shoulders. Line up your shoulders with your head.
Lastly, tighten your core and lift your body into the vertical position. This is a challenging pose so do not get discouraged. Practice makes perfect.
These are all challenging poses. One of the most important things that you have to remember during this process is that it is okay to fall in the water! If you fall in the water, simply get back up and try again! Check out Dunn Rite Pool Products today to take a look at all of the SUP yoga and inflatable paddleboard accessories! How Do You Stand Up On an Inflatable SUP?
For those who are looking for a new sport to try on the water, one of the most popular choices is stand-up paddleboarding. For those who haven't tried it yet, paddleboarding is a fun activity that everyone can partake in on oceans, rivers, lakes, and bays. This will provide everyone with a great core body workout and will allow everyone to experience everything that the great outdoors has to offer. Furthermore, this is a sport that people can try at all ages. It is great for all body types and skill levels. Some people even like to bring a child or pet along with them!
Of course, for those who want to get started in this sport, they need to know how to stand up on a stand-up paddleboard. While there are plenty of great stand-up paddleboard options including a new blue and white stand-up paddleboard, everyone has to know how to stand up. There are a few steps that everyone should follow.
Choosing the Right Stand-Up Paddleboard
One of the first skills that everyone has to master is standing up on a stand-up paddleboard. This starts with choosing the right one. For those who are doing this for the first time, the biggest tip involves choosing the right stand-up paddleboard.
It is a good idea to start with a 30-inch board that is about 11 feet long. This will provide a nice long, wide surface that is going to stay in place as people try to stand up. The board should feel comfortable and stable. If it won’t stay in place, then go for a wider stand-up paddleboard.
Inflatable stand up paddleboards tend to be wider and longer which make them a great SUP for beginners and enthusiasts alike.
The Process of Standing Up On a SUP
When it comes time to stand up on the stand-up paddleboard, start in calm, flat water. This should be done close to shore. This is where the water is going to be calm unless there are rolling waves in the ocean.
Once there is a nice, calm, flat area, it is time to try to stand up. The steps to follow include:
Move the board out into the water. While it is a good idea to start close to shore, make sure the fin is not going to hit the bottom.
Then, get into a kneeling position on the stand-up paddleboard. While on hands and knees, take a few strokes on each side of the board to make sure that that it is free to move in the water.
Next, slowly stand up on the stand-up paddleboard. Use one fit at a time. Make every effort to remain in the middle of the board. Try to keep the knees and feet parallel to the stringer. They should be should-width apart.
Keep the core centered over the board. Maintain a slight knee bend. Keep standing up until you reach the ideal pose and you are able to stand up straight.
For those who are doing this the first time, it is easy to fall off. Falling off of a stand-up paddleboard is nothing to be ashamed of. Simply hop back up on the board and try again. For those who get cold easily, it is a good idea to wear a thin wetsuit.
The Most Important Tip for Standing Up
Anyone who is going this for the first time needs to make sure they find the right stand-up paddleboard. It is tempting to try a smaller stand-up paddleboard because they look less intimidating; however, this is the wrong move. If the stand-up paddleboard is too small, a beginner is never going to be able to stand up. Then, they will get disheartened and quit. A larger stand-up paddleboard is better for beginners. This is where professionals can help.
These are a few of the most important tips that people need to follow when it comes to standing up on a stand-up paddleboard. It is important to make sure you find the right stand-up paddleboard for your needs. At Dunn-Rite Products, we have the latest line of stand-up paddleboards! Take a look at everything we have to offer! We will help you find the right stand-up paddleboard for your needs!

Five Myths About Inflatable SUP's Debunked
People are often looking for a new sport or activity they can try and one of the most popular is called stand up paddleboarding, often shortened to SUP in conversation. When it comes to stand up paddleboarding, there are a few myths that need to be debunked. These myths have been spread by people who have often never given the sport a chance on their own. With this in mind, here are five myths about SUP's and stand up paddleboarding that need to be addressed so that everyone can try this sport with an open mind and an eager heart.
SUP Myth 1: Inflatable Paddleboards Are Only for Beginners
There are plenty of people who fall in love with
inflatable stand up paddleboards. While it is true that inflatable stand up paddleboarding might be good for beginners, they can remain a great option for those who might be intermediate or advanced when it comes to paddleboarding. The reality is that the SUP someone should be using is dependent on their personal preferences as well as their intended uses. For example, those who only want to go stand up paddleboarding on lakes and in bays should be fine with an inflatable stand up paddleboard no matter what their level of skill might be.
SUP Myth 2: An Inflatable Paddleboard Is Hard To Inflate
Another common myth when it comes to inflatable stand up paddleboards is that they are hard to inflate. The reality is that almost all inflatable SUP’s are only going to take a few minutes to fully inflate. First, there needs to be a hand or electronic pump that will connect to the valve. Second, the pump needs to keep going until the recommended PSI has been reached. Finally, the valve can be closed. It is not hard to complete this task and people will be pleasantly surprised at how quickly it goes.
SUP Myth 3: Inflatable Stand Up Paddleboards Aren’t Durable
Another myth about inflatable stand up paddleboards has to do with their durability. There are lots of people out there who see an inflatable stand up paddleboard and think that it can be popped easily. The reality is that this is not the case and most inflatable stand up paddleboards are as durable as harder options. Most inflatable stand up paddleboards are very rugged and can take a major beating without popping. Try dropping inflatable stand up paddleboards in the parking lot over and over again. It can even fall from the top story of an office building and likely survive. For a durable option, inflatable stand up paddleboards are great. The Dunn Rite inflatable stand up paddleboard has even stood up to being driven over by a Jeep!
SUP Myth 4: Inflatable Stand Up Paddleboards Do Not Perform Well
While it is true that a hard paddleboard might have better performance, there still is not a major difference between inflatable stand up paddleboards and harder options. The reality is that inflatable stand up paddleboards are better when it comes to whitewater options. It is easy to surf on inflatable stand up paddleboards; however, a hard paddleboard is going to catch the waves more easily. Furthermore, inflatable stand up paddleboards can also be used for other activities such as yoga. In actuality, inflatable stand up paddleboards do some things better and some things worse than order options. Each of them has its advantages and disadvantages.
SUP Myth 5: Inflatable Paddleboards Are Too Expensive
Finally, inflatable stand up paddleboards have a reputation for being expensive. This is not the case. There are plenty of situations where inflatable stand up paddleboards are cheaper than harder options. Sometimes, people might even save a few hundred dollars. People simply need to be willing to look around at the options when it comes to inflatable stand up paddleboards. There are plenty of great choices out there.

What Should I Wear To Stand Up Paddleboard?
Stand up paddleboarding (SUP) is a great way to enjoy time on the water and also a fun way to get a full body workout. There are some obvious pieces of equipment that you need to stand up paddleboard such as the paddleboard and oars. You probably have not spent much time thinking about clothing and accessory needs. I am going to give you some helpful information about the gear you need before you head out to SUP.
Basic Clothing for Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP)
Weather can always be unpredictable, but you should be as prepared as you can be for the weather while you are on your stand up paddleboard. No matter what the weather conditions may be, the most important thing you must wear is a life jacket. Paddleboards are considered vessels by the US Coast Guard (USCG), so you must have a life jacket with you on the paddleboard. You should wear the life jacket, but the law only states it needs to be with you. It must be a USCG approved life jacket.
Gear For Hot Weather Stand Up Paddleboarding
The gear you wear for SUP changes based on the weather temperature and conditions. When you stand up paddleboard in warm weather, you want to wear clothes that keep you cool, allow you to move freely, but also protect you if you want to (or accidentally) take a swim. Men typically wear board shorts and women wear a bathing suit. Some ladies add a pair of board shorts over their suit as well for comfort and protection. You might also consider a short sleeve or long sleeve rash guard, these often will provide sun protection which is imperative. You should take a thin shirt or sweatshirt, especially if you want to go out on the paddleboard in the morning. You can wear it until the weather gets warmer and then take it off if you choose. If you take a dry bag with you, you can put any extra clothes in it to keep them dry. You can also put your phone, keys, and wallet in a dry bag. It's also a good idea to have a tether to secure your wet bag to your stand up paddleboard in case it falls off.
Gear For Cold Weather Stand Up Paddleboarding
In the cooler months, you should consider clothes to keep you warm. You may even want to wear wetsuit. A wetsuit is made of neoprene that traps a thin layer of water between your body and the wetsuit. Your body heat warms that water, which then keeps you warm. Wetsuits come in different thicknesses, ranging from 3 to 7 mm, to keep you warm in varying temperatures. During warm weather, you may opt not to wear shoes or flip flops. I would suggest making sure your flip flops float in case of a fall. In cold weather, you want to consider wetsuit booties which will help to prevent your feet from freezing in cold water temperatures. Booties also come in different thicknesses to keep your feet warm in varying temperatures. If you do not want to buy a wetsuit, you can opt to layer instead. You start with a base layer, such as long johns, to keep you warm. Then you wear a water resistant top and bottom. You may also want to wear gloves, they keep your hands warm and you do not have to worry about frostbite. You can still have freedom of movement in your hands and they will not be freezing. If you choose to wear warmer clothing, you should definitely consider wearing a life-jacket in the event you were to fall in the water.
Extras To Consider when Stand Up Paddleboarding
After you have gotten the perfect attire to wear while you are stand up paddleboarding, you should consider some accessories. You should bring a sunhat, sunglasses and sunscreen to protect you from the sun. You want to keep the sun out of your eyes and off your face. Make sure you use waterproof sunscreen that also has UV protection. If you are wearing sunglasses make sure you have a strap that helps hold them on your head, there are several different varieties, just find what feels best for you.
You also want to make sure you have a tether for your stand up paddleboard. This tether connects one end to your ankle and the other end to the paddleboard. Some, but not all, stand up paddleboards come with a tether. You definitely need one so if you fall off your SUP, it keeps it close to your body. You can use your stand up paddleboard as a flotation device, so keeping it near you is important in case you get in trouble.
A fun accessory you can get for your inflatable stand up paddle board. This will turn your SUP in to a kayak type of experience. This is a relatively inexpensive way to get more use out of your paddleboard and you only need to store one board instead of a SUP and a kayak. If you really want to consolidate on space, the paddleboard fits inside of a backpack and is easy to haul and store.
Before you go out on the SUP, you want to make sure you have all the gear you need to stay comfortable so you can have a great time and enjoy your adventure!

How Do You Store an Inflatable SUP for Winter?
When winter is coming and the temperatures start to get cold, you may be wondering about the best way to store an inflatable SUP. The options for off-season storage are pretty straightforward but there are some best practices. An inflatable SUP is much easier to store than a traditional one since it comes with its own carrying case and can be deflated to fit in smaller storage spaces.
Storing an Inflatable SUP for Winter
It's important to store your inflatable SUP correctly or else it could result in a damaged paddleboard when you pull it out for summertime again. If you want to learn more about how to store SUPs correctly keep reading.
Clean the SUP
You want to make sure that you rinse it with freshwater to remove any dirt, sand, grime, or salt. Be sure to avoid any strong chemicals and solvents. You will also want to have the board dry before you fully put it away.
Where to Store
As you consider your options for storage, there are a few things you want to keep in mind when storing your stand up paddleboard for winter.
Sunlight: The ultraviolet rays that come with sunlight can be damaging to the stand up paddleboard and can cause discoloration.
Moisture: An environment that is wet can encourage mildew and mold growth and even damage part of the material on the SUP.
Extreme Heat: Extreme temperatures caused by a heat source or the sun can do damage to the materials of the stand up paddleboard.
There are generally two options for storing your stand up paddleboard: you can do it indoors or outdoors. The easiest storage solution is to keep it indoors. If you have an inflatable SUP then indoors can be much easier since you can deflate it and keep it away in a smaller space. If you are keeping it outside then you need to take some extra precautions to protect your stand up paddleboard from the elements. Be sure it's in a shady spot away from the heat and UV rays and protect it from any rain or snow.
How to Store Inflatable SUPs
There are three basic ways to store your SUP, including:
Burrito
This method involves rolling the deflated board up just like a burrito. In order to do this, you need to make sure that all the air has been squeezed out. You can use the same technique you would use when trying to store an air mattress: roll and smooth it section by section. Once the board is in a tight roll then you can store it.
Bag it Up
Your Dunn-Rite stand up paddleboard comes with a carrying case. You can use the same roll and smooth technique in order to ensure the board is deflated. You want to be as thorough as you can since the smaller you make the board, the easier it is to zip it in the bag. Your bag should be able to fit your SUP, as well as all the accessories.
Semi-Inflated
If you have the space then you can store your stand up paddleboard inflated. However, it's recommended that you do let out some air to lower the PSI slightly. There isn't a gain from leaving the SUP inflated with full pressure when you aren't using it. Giving the seams a break from full inflation from time to time will keep your inflatable SUP in better shape. When you store your SUP this way, as you go to use it the next time you will only need to top off the air instead of inflate it from scratch.
Leave SUPs Inflated in Storage
If you are storing your inflatable stand up paddleboard inside, out of direct sunlight, and away from any extreme temperature changes then you can leave the SUP inflated. You can do this indefinitely but if you want to preserve the lifespan of your board then deflating it periodically is your best bet.
More Tips on Storing SUPs
You want to make sure that you store your SUP where there is ease of access. You don't want it to be so difficult to get that you aren't able to use it come springtime. A quality stand up paddleboard is an investment so you also want to take steps to protect the paddleboard from being stolen. Keep it hidden from view as much as possible. When you take great care of your SUP, you can increase its longevity.
