Even though many are familiar with Orcas Island, just off the Pacific coast, there are plenty of other places to go stand-up paddleboarding in Oregon as well. If you would like to take advantage of some of the top scenery in this region, where should you look?

SUP Devil’s Lake in Oregon

Devil’s Lake is one of the smaller lakes in its part of Oregon; however, it has plenty of SUP opportunities. The water is a deep, blue color that juxtaposes beautifully with the white pumice bottom. As you paddle across the light, you will be able to see brook trout, rainbows, and numerous eagles that tend to fly overhead. The water remains cool during the summer. Therefore, even if it heats up outside, you can still cool off in the water.

Deschutes River Offers Top-Notch SUP Opportunities

If you are looking for a location that has a bit of a current, then you will want to try stand-up paddleboarding here. As you go down the river, there are plenty of opportunities available to take in the scenery. If you are new to using an inflatable SUP, you may want to start at Drake Park, as this is the heart of the downtown bend. The currents are relatively calm here, providing you with an opportunity to get your feet wet. You can also enjoy some of the beautiful houses built along the river. You may want to check out the Old Mill District as well with your inflatable SUP.

SUP Elk Lake in Oregon

Elk Lake is a favorite among tourists and inflatable SUP enthusiasts as it has lovely beaches, beautiful views, and plenty of amenities at the local Resort. Furthermore, you will also have an outstanding view of South Sister and Mount Bachelor. Awe-inspiring sights to behold, you have to make sure to bring your camera. There is nothing quite like the sunset views at this Lake. If you want to get the most out of your inflatable SUP at Elk Lake, be sure to visit on Saturdays during the summer when there is free live music going on.

Oregon's Suttle Lake For a SUP Adventure

Located in Deschutes National Forest, Suttle Lake is a popular recreational location among residents and visitors alike. It is approximately 30 miles north of the Bend Highway. This lake is more than 250 acres in size. You can relax in the pool water, try out some new stand-up paddleboarding workouts, and even relax on the sandy beaches with family members and friends. If you decide you want to spend a few extra days at this location, three campgrounds sit on the edge of the lake. SUP camping has become a popular weekend activity that is worth a try for those interested. You can also take advantage of mountain biking and hiking opportunities in the area. An inflatable SUP comes in a hiking backpack, so it is easy to trek into remote areas with the rest of your gear.

East Lake at the Newberry National Volcanic Monument

This gorgeous location is only 30 minutes south of Bend, OR. While there is an access fee, there are views here that you cannot find anywhere else. The Newberry Volcano is the largest in the gorgeous Cascade Range. There are lava caves, waterfalls, hiking trails, and two major lakes you can enjoy. If you like the woods, then be sure to check out East Lake, as you will be able to check out some unique wildlife. Furthermore, there are also sandy beaches you can kick back and relax on after you paddle around on your inflatable SUP!
