SUP Polo
If you are looking for a fun, challenging game to play, then SUP Polo is the sport for you. Using your
inflatable paddleboard, you can do just about everything in this sport as you compete against family members and friends. There are a few key points that you should keep in mind when it comes to SUP Polo.
What Is SUP Polo?
SUP Polo is a combination of multiple games including water polo and lacrosse. This game is best played on inflatable SUPs. Usually, there is an area of the water that has been sectioned off. This will act as the boundaries of the course. Alternatively, you can also play this sport in a swimming pool. While SUP Polo started as a form of a gimmick, it has spread quickly and is now one of the most popular team-based events that you can play on an inflatable SUP.
The Rules of SUP Polo
There are a few rules that you should follow when you play SUP Polo. Each team has three players, although this can be easily modified to add more players if you wish. Typically, each game is about six minutes long; however, if you feel you have the energy, you can extend the matches. At halftime, the teams switch the direction in which they are going.
There is a ball that has been designed to be played only with paddles. Try to play with paddles that have a bit of a curve to them. Your goal is to scoop or usher the ball along the water. Then, you try to fire the ball into the net of the other team.
The game is meant to be fast and short. If you fall in the water while playing SUP Polo, then you are doing something right! Of course, the team who ends up with the most goals at the end of the match is declared the winner! This is an intense game that provides you with a fun workout as well!
What Equipment Do You Need?
There are a few pieces of equipment that you will need in order to play SUP Polo. These include:
Enough inflatable SUPs for everyone who will be participating
Paddles that have curves or scoops on the end that allow you to launch a ball at the goal
Sometimes, there are fins that you can attach to the bottom of your SUP to make the board easier to turn as you play
You will need a small ball that is easy to move and shoot during SUP Polo
You will need two separate nets of the same size to act as goals
You should have something that you can use to mark the boundaries of the course
While you can play SUP Polo on just about any body of water, it is better to find calm water.
Tips and Tricks for SUP Polo
As you get started with SUP Polo, you will find that this is a demanding sport that is meant to be played at a fast pace. While beginners can certainly participate, this is a sport that requires a lot of quick maneuvers in order to be able to keep up with the other players. Therefore, you should practice paddling, balancing, turning, and scooping with your arms in order to get better at SUP Polo.
There are two versions of the sport. The first is the non-contact version where players are not supposed to make physical contact with each other. On the other hand, nudging the board is allowed. The other form of SUP Polo is a contact sport, where you can knock people into the water to get them to release the ball. Think of this as the contact that takes place during men’s lacrosse.
If you want to give SUP Polo a try, then you need to have the right board. Inflatable SUPs work the best for this sport. Therefore, take a look at the selection of boards from Dunn Rite Pool Products! Then, get out on the water and challenge a few other players to a game of SUP Polo!

Five Myths About Inflatable SUP's Debunked
People are often looking for a new sport or activity they can try and one of the most popular is called stand up paddleboarding, often shortened to SUP in conversation. When it comes to stand up paddleboarding, there are a few myths that need to be debunked. These myths have been spread by people who have often never given the sport a chance on their own. With this in mind, here are five myths about SUP's and stand up paddleboarding that need to be addressed so that everyone can try this sport with an open mind and an eager heart.
SUP Myth 1: Inflatable Paddleboards Are Only for Beginners
There are plenty of people who fall in love with
inflatable stand up paddleboards. While it is true that inflatable stand up paddleboarding might be good for beginners, they can remain a great option for those who might be intermediate or advanced when it comes to paddleboarding. The reality is that the SUP someone should be using is dependent on their personal preferences as well as their intended uses. For example, those who only want to go stand up paddleboarding on lakes and in bays should be fine with an inflatable stand up paddleboard no matter what their level of skill might be.
SUP Myth 2: An Inflatable Paddleboard Is Hard To Inflate
Another common myth when it comes to inflatable stand up paddleboards is that they are hard to inflate. The reality is that almost all inflatable SUP’s are only going to take a few minutes to fully inflate. First, there needs to be a hand or electronic pump that will connect to the valve. Second, the pump needs to keep going until the recommended PSI has been reached. Finally, the valve can be closed. It is not hard to complete this task and people will be pleasantly surprised at how quickly it goes.
SUP Myth 3: Inflatable Stand Up Paddleboards Aren’t Durable
Another myth about inflatable stand up paddleboards has to do with their durability. There are lots of people out there who see an inflatable stand up paddleboard and think that it can be popped easily. The reality is that this is not the case and most inflatable stand up paddleboards are as durable as harder options. Most inflatable stand up paddleboards are very rugged and can take a major beating without popping. Try dropping inflatable stand up paddleboards in the parking lot over and over again. It can even fall from the top story of an office building and likely survive. For a durable option, inflatable stand up paddleboards are great. The Dunn Rite inflatable stand up paddleboard has even stood up to being driven over by a Jeep!
SUP Myth 4: Inflatable Stand Up Paddleboards Do Not Perform Well
While it is true that a hard paddleboard might have better performance, there still is not a major difference between inflatable stand up paddleboards and harder options. The reality is that inflatable stand up paddleboards are better when it comes to whitewater options. It is easy to surf on inflatable stand up paddleboards; however, a hard paddleboard is going to catch the waves more easily. Furthermore, inflatable stand up paddleboards can also be used for other activities such as yoga. In actuality, inflatable stand up paddleboards do some things better and some things worse than order options. Each of them has its advantages and disadvantages.
SUP Myth 5: Inflatable Paddleboards Are Too Expensive
Finally, inflatable stand up paddleboards have a reputation for being expensive. This is not the case. There are plenty of situations where inflatable stand up paddleboards are cheaper than harder options. Sometimes, people might even save a few hundred dollars. People simply need to be willing to look around at the options when it comes to inflatable stand up paddleboards. There are plenty of great choices out there.

How Do You Store an Inflatable SUP for Winter?
When winter is coming and the temperatures start to get cold, you may be wondering about the best way to store an inflatable SUP. The options for off-season storage are pretty straightforward but there are some best practices. An inflatable SUP is much easier to store than a traditional one since it comes with its own carrying case and can be deflated to fit in smaller storage spaces.
Storing an Inflatable SUP for Winter
It's important to store your inflatable SUP correctly or else it could result in a damaged paddleboard when you pull it out for summertime again. If you want to learn more about how to store SUPs correctly keep reading.
Clean the SUP
You want to make sure that you rinse it with freshwater to remove any dirt, sand, grime, or salt. Be sure to avoid any strong chemicals and solvents. You will also want to have the board dry before you fully put it away.
Where to Store
As you consider your options for storage, there are a few things you want to keep in mind when storing your stand up paddleboard for winter.
Sunlight: The ultraviolet rays that come with sunlight can be damaging to the stand up paddleboard and can cause discoloration.
Moisture: An environment that is wet can encourage mildew and mold growth and even damage part of the material on the SUP.
Extreme Heat: Extreme temperatures caused by a heat source or the sun can do damage to the materials of the stand up paddleboard.
There are generally two options for storing your stand up paddleboard: you can do it indoors or outdoors. The easiest storage solution is to keep it indoors. If you have an inflatable SUP then indoors can be much easier since you can deflate it and keep it away in a smaller space. If you are keeping it outside then you need to take some extra precautions to protect your stand up paddleboard from the elements. Be sure it's in a shady spot away from the heat and UV rays and protect it from any rain or snow.
How to Store Inflatable SUPs
There are three basic ways to store your SUP, including:
Burrito
This method involves rolling the deflated board up just like a burrito. In order to do this, you need to make sure that all the air has been squeezed out. You can use the same technique you would use when trying to store an air mattress: roll and smooth it section by section. Once the board is in a tight roll then you can store it.
Bag it Up
Your Dunn-Rite stand up paddleboard comes with a carrying case. You can use the same roll and smooth technique in order to ensure the board is deflated. You want to be as thorough as you can since the smaller you make the board, the easier it is to zip it in the bag. Your bag should be able to fit your SUP, as well as all the accessories.
Semi-Inflated
If you have the space then you can store your stand up paddleboard inflated. However, it's recommended that you do let out some air to lower the PSI slightly. There isn't a gain from leaving the SUP inflated with full pressure when you aren't using it. Giving the seams a break from full inflation from time to time will keep your inflatable SUP in better shape. When you store your SUP this way, as you go to use it the next time you will only need to top off the air instead of inflate it from scratch.
Leave SUPs Inflated in Storage
If you are storing your inflatable stand up paddleboard inside, out of direct sunlight, and away from any extreme temperature changes then you can leave the SUP inflated. You can do this indefinitely but if you want to preserve the lifespan of your board then deflating it periodically is your best bet.
More Tips on Storing SUPs
You want to make sure that you store your SUP where there is ease of access. You don't want it to be so difficult to get that you aren't able to use it come springtime. A quality stand up paddleboard is an investment so you also want to take steps to protect the paddleboard from being stolen. Keep it hidden from view as much as possible. When you take great care of your SUP, you can increase its longevity.

Can you sit on a SUP?
One of the reasons people love standup paddleboarding is that its a great way to get a
whole-body workout while enjoying the great outdoors. But lets be honest. Sometimes, rather than exercising, we just want to bask in nature, and the extra dose of relaxation that comes with floating on water while doing it.
The great news is
SUPs aren't just for standing anymore. With an accessory or two, you can transform your SUP into a fishing boat, a place to bond with your partner, child or dog, or even a kayak (though kayaking will also give you a bit of a workout). Converting your SUP in this way maximizes its versatility, and expands the range of ways you can use it to have fun.
You can
sit on your paddleboard without accessories too. Paddling while kneeling, you can give your legs a rest. And if you're not in a hurry to go anywhere, you can simply sit or lie on your board while its stationary, soaking up the sun, reading a book, or enjoying a cool beverage.
Here's just a sampling of what you can do while sitting on your SUP for a change:
Can you use a paddle board as a kayak?
For a whole different kind of adventure using your SUP, try adding a
temporary seat and a different paddle to ride ocean waves or light white water river rapids. Convertible paddles are available that allow you to switch between stand up paddleboarding and kayaking using the same paddle handle.
Fishing From a SUP
By adding a removable seat to your paddleboard, you can transform it into a fishing boat. The SUPs weight-bearing ability and stability make it especially well-suited to dropping your line and leisurely waiting for nibbles. Some folks prefer to fish from a folding beach-type chair rather than the lower profile seat, and there are chairs like this specifically designed to attach to
SUPs via special straps or other attachments. These chairs allow you to bend your knees while sitting. Be careful when selecting this type of chair, though, as not all are ideal for inflatable SUPs, which generally have more flex than hard boards.
Paddleboarding for Two
Adding a seat gives you the option of bringing a passenger along on your SUP ride. Parents of children who don’t yet know how to stand up and paddle – or who simply aren’t strong enough to do it for long periods of time – find this is a great way to bring your little one along, spend time with them, and slowly introduce them to the sport. Other accessories, like an umbrella that attaches to the board, can make your SUP even more comfortable for you and your passenger.
Photography while on a SUP
Standup paddleboarding takes us to some beautiful settings. How many times have we looked around while paddling and thought, What an awesome photo this would make! Taking great pictures while paddling is awkward at best. When you want to take a picture, it's handy that you absolutely can sit on a SUP.
Resting on a SUP
Adding a seat to your paddleboard doesn't stop you from standing up on it. SUPs have plenty of room for both. What it does offer is a way to give your legs a break that is more comfortable than kneeling.
Standup paddleboarding is one of the most enjoyable whole-body workouts there is. But SUPs are so much more than exercise equipment. To take advantage of everything else the SUP has to offer, try sitting on it!
