4th of July Pool Party Food And Drink Ideas
The 4th of July is right around the corner and nothing goes with the 4th of July quite like a pool party! The question hosts are asking now is, what are we going to serve for food and drinks? If you want to do a red, white, and blue 4th of July theme pool party, we have some great suggestions for you to try.
4th of July Pool Party Beverages
Red, White, and Blue Blast
Alcohol-free and fun for the whole family, you'll even get a science lesson in for the kids and they won't even know they're learning! You can swap out the juices, you just can't change the order, otherwise you'll get a pretty purple drink instead of the layered red, white, and blue we're aiming for here.
Ingredients
Koolaid Tropical Punch (red layer)
Gatorade Frost (white layer)
G2 Blueberry Pomegranate (blue layer)
Because of the sugar content in the Kool Aid (38g) it will be our bottom layer.
Instructions
Fill your dispenser with ice. Make sure it's full to help keep your layers separate.
Grab a big metal spoon and place it across the top of the ice with the spoon side up against your container
VERY slowly pour the tropical punch over the spoon so it flows gently down the inside of the container. Try not to have it touch ice cubes or it will blend in to the next colors. I like to use a wooden spoon to dig down and make a small channel to the bottom.
Prepare for the second layer of Gatorade Frost. At 29g of sugar it will sit nicely over the red Kool Aid.
Slow pour the Gatorade Frost layer over an ice cube until you fill the next 1/3.
Last layer is the G2 Blueberry. Because it only has 7g of sugar, it will sit on top.
Very very slowly pour the blue layer over an ice cube until the last 1/3 is to the top.
You can swap out the layers, you just need to pay attention to the sugar content. If your bottom two layers are approximately 40/20, then the top layer should have as close to zero as possible.
4th of July Fruit Kabobs
Easy, fun, and who doesn't love a fruit kabob!
Ingredients
Strawberries
Blueberries
Mini Marshmallows
Wooden Skewers or Kabob sticks
Instructions
Wash and dry all fruit
Cut strawberries in to bite size pieces
Assemble kabobs using 1/3 for blueberries, 1/3 for mini marshmallows, and 1/3 for sliced strawberries
4th Of July Cake
This is a great hack if you aren't a baker, but want to theme out your pool party for the 4th of July. Take a store bought cake with white frosting and as little decoration as possible, scrape off all the decorations and dispose. Add more white frosting so you now have a plain white cake canvas. You will now have a plain white (flag shaped) rectangle. in the upper left corner, add 4 rows of blueberries. Fill the rest with 4 rows of raspberries or strawberries (any red fruit or candy works here) until your cake looks like a flag. Easy, fast, and totally on theme for our 4th of July pool party!
These few recipes and ideas can be twisted and turned in to a few iterations that you can easily play with. Add in a BBQ with the all American staples like burgers and hot dogs and you have a 4th of July party that will be one for the ages! Send us in your pictures of 4th of July pool parties showcasing your Dunn-Rite pool basketball or pool volleyball units and maybe we will share them on our social media pages.
Have a fun and safe 4th of July friends!

The Best Swimming Pool Games for 2020
When it comes to summer pool fun, there is nothing like playing a few games. There are many individuals and families who are looking to stay cool this summer and the swimming pool provides the perfect opportunity to do this. While having plenty of sunscreen, towels, music, and food is a good idea, there will have to be a few games to keep the party going. That is where it is important to plan ahead. What are some of the top swimming pool games for 2020? There are a few key examples to keep in mind.
Sharks and Minnows
Of course, this is one of the classic swimming pool games and it is just as popular today as it ever was. In this game, there is a single person who starts off as a shark. Then, everyone else is a minnow. When the shark yells for the minnows to get in the water, the goal is for each minnow to make it to the other side of the pool without getting tagged by the shark. If the shark tags a minnow, that minnow becomes a shark. The last minnow standing is declared the winner. Sharks and minnows typically involves diving, so make sure the pool is deep enough and that everyone dives safely!
Pool Basketball
There is nothing like playing
pool basketball. The added resistance of the water takes the game to a whole new level. In addition, treading water is a great form of exercise! While playing traditional basketball is a great place to start, don’t be afraid to play other games such as horse and knockout! In some cases, players might even try to make trick shots happen from the pool deck, a lounge chair, or even a window in the house! Just make sure that everyone stays safe while playing this fun swimming pool game!
Pool Volleyball
In addition to pool basketball,
pool volleyball is another classic. There are simple nets that can be deployed across a portion of the pool, making setup a breeze! Then, all that is needed is a volleyball! Depending on the height of the net, it might be possible for certain players to spike it! The depth of the water might provide an additional challenge, particularly if the players are not able to stand! Treading water provides another added challenge to this fun swimming pool game!
Light Up Pool Games Are Fun After Dark
It is not unusual for swimming pool parties to last late into the evening, so think about having a few fun swimming pool games to play once the sun goes down! This is where light-up toys are important. One simple game could involve dropping a series of light-up objects in the water and watching them drop to the bottom of the pool. Then, everyone can race to see who can collect the most objects from the bottom! Try to find objects that vary in color and size including diving sticks, border lights, lotus flowers, and more!
Additional Team Games To Choose From For The Pool
Finally, no swimming pool party lasts late into the evening without a little bit of encouragement. For those who know about the game of cornhole, think about finding a version of this game that will work well in the water! Find floating cornhole boards and deploy them in the water! Then, trying to drain a beanbag in the hole, or even getting one to stay on the board, will be a challenge as the board bobs and weaves in the water! There is nothing like the additional challenge of playing cornhole on the water!

What Do You Need For a Pool Party?
If you want to plan a pool party, you want to make this the best pool party possible. While it is important to have items such as towels and sunscreen (in addition to suits and goggles for yourself and your children), you also need to think outside the box. You don’t want to have your guests sitting on the pool deck waiting for the fun to arrive. You want to provide all of this when they arrive! With this in mind, there are a few important items that you have to include for your next pool party to be a success!Pool Party Food and Drinks
The best way to get people to show up for anything is to provide food and drinks. The same is true of a pool party. When it comes to having the right food drinks there are a few factors that you need to consider. First, think about how many people are coming. This will help you come up with an estimate as to how much food you need to have. Second, think about any potential allergies. Try to accommodate those who might have dietary restrictions. Some of the most common include gluten, peanuts, and soy. Finally, consider the age of the crowd. Some people might be expecting to enjoy a few adult beverages at the party. If this is appropriate for the attendees, this might be a nice addition to the food and beverage mix.Pool Party Music and Speakers
In addition to food and drinks, music is the other important ingredient to make a pool party go. Think about the age of the people who are going to be there. Then, try to come up with a playlist ahead of time. This might be a set rotation of songs or a certain radio station. Try to have speakers to amplify the sound, as it might be hard to hear the songs from a phone speaker. At the same time, be considerate of the neighbors. If they are invited to the party, this might be less of a problem; however, the right music is essential for every pool party. The Right Set of Pool Games
At every pool party, it is also important to have pool games. While food, drinks, and music are great, there will have to be a few pool games to keep the party going. Two of the most popular games are pool basketball and pool volleyball. There are plenty of basketball hoops and volleyball nets from which to choose. They will fit almost any pool. Furthermore, they can move around the pool with ease! There are plenty of variations on traditional basketball games that people can play as well. These include great games such as horse and knockout! Have a wide selection of pool games to keep everyone busy! Some Form of Shade Near the Pool
Finally, it is also important to have shade for those who want to take a break from the pool without getting sunburned. Some pools might come with this built-in. This might include a covered patio area near the pool. Other pools might have cabanas nearby. For those that don’t have either of these, try to deploy a few umbrellas or tarps. Ideally, this should be set up near the food and drinks! Think about having a few cool towels as well to keep everyone safe from overheating. The importance of shade at a pool party cannot be overstated.Plan for Success at the Next Pool Party with Dunn Rite Pool Products

What To Wear To A Pool Party?
Summer is a time that is meant for fun in the sun. Without a doubt, you (or someone you know) is going to get invited to at least one party at the pool. How are you supposed to know what to wear? Sure, you want to bring a bathing suit if you plan on getting wet; however, what is the right attire? Is this a beach barbecue theme? Is this a birthday party at the pool? Maybe this party is going to be a day club or some sort? Going out to a pool party means only wearing a bathing suit for part of the time. What else should be worn? There are a few tips to keep in mind.
Your Clothes Are Going To Get Wet
Yes, you are wearing your bathing suit because you assume this is going to get wet; however, the clothes you are wearing on top are going to get wet at some point as well. Look, you aren’t going to be able to pay attention to what is happening all the time. You might get too close to a cannonball. A wet child might jump on you at some point. Therefore, try to opt for natural fabrics that are going to be able to absorb this forecast. This might include cotton or linen. Linen tends to be lighter and can keep you cool.
The Bottom Is Important
When you are planning your pool attire, you should focus more on your bottoms than your top. Your top is probably going to end up being your bathing suit (if you are a girl) or some sort of light Hawaiian shirt or athletic shirt (if you are a guy). For guys, the swimming suit is a good bottom; however, for girls, think about wearing something stylish or colorful. Something light and frilly will help you stay comfortable. One of the most popular choices is actually denim cut-offs of some sort!
Remember to Bring a Light Jacket
When you go to a pool party during the summer, the last thing you think about is getting cold; however, summer breezes are a thing for a reason. Once the sun sets, the party is going to keep going. This is where a light jacket is going to be helpful. This is even more important if you have been swimming. The breeze on your wet shoulders could end up being a serious problem. This is another reason why a jacket matters. Think about going with something red, orange, or yellow. You might even want to find something that works well with your swimming suit!
Don’t Forget About the Accessories
If you are trying to coordinate something special for the pool party, then you need to think about the accessories as well. One of the most popular styles is something called a basket-weave bag. A basket-weave can make a great bag when it comes to carrying certain items such as a water bottle, camera, or sunscreen. It has the feel of the beach, is easy to carry, and is durable. In addition, don't forget about hats! A broad-brimmed hat is a good idea because this provides added protection for the face and neck against the sun!
The Classic Look for a Pool Party
For both guys and girls who are looking to find something classic to wear to a pool party, the white button-down is the look to choose. This is something that will work for just about anything. Just remember that this shirt is going to get wet, so it is a good idea to stay away from anything that might need to be worn to work in the near future. This can be layered over the swimsuit with ease. Then, it can be tossed in the wash easily once the party is over.

Pool Party for Teenagers
Without a doubt, one of the highlights of the summer is all of the parties that unfold. Many of them take place in or around a pool. If you are looking to be seen as the cool or fun parent (or family), then it is important to throw the best pool party possible. There are a few ways to make sure a pool party for your teen is pulled off with aplomb!
Teen Pool Party Invites
Times have changed. In the past, invites for pool parties would have been pasted on lockers at school or mailed to people’s houses. When it comes to throwing a pool party today, this is not how invites are handled. Today, invites are handled using the internet. Therefore, talk to your teen and see what social media accounts are active. Pool party invites can be distributed through Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and even TikTok. Think about what would work well with your teen’s friends! Perhaps throw together a quick video highlighting how awesome and inviting the pool is. This can go a long way toward helping you attract as many excited party guests as possible!
Teen Pool Party Décor and Party Favors
Once the invites have been handled, it is time to think about the party décor and favors that are needed to bring the entire event together. Think about using beach towels and awesome sunglasses that can be used to make great party favors. Remember that the more the pool looks like a day at the beach, the better the party is going to be.
This also means incorporating plenty of beach music. While it is a good idea to ask your teen what music he or she would like to use, try to push for beach music as much as possible. While your teen is going to want to incorporate a bit of hip hop, there is a way to make both of these work together.
If you really want to go all out, think about draping seashells and fishnet on the tables and walls to complete the look. This will let everyone know that this pool party is going to be absolutely amazing. Remember to have plenty of towels laying out for the party guests. This is going to be critical because some party guests are bound to forget to bring their own towels.
The Food for a Teen Pool Party
Now, the secret to having as many people show up as possible is to provide plenty of delicious food. Remember that teenagers are going to be hungry so there is no such thing as too much food. Ask your teen what he or she would like to have at the party. Then, be sure to provide this along with plenty of other options. It is a good idea to quickly ask if anyone at the party has any allergies to anything. Then, try to provide a diverse spread. Think about having an ice cream bar or something cold as well. Popsicle's are a nice touch. The more the merrier when it comes to food! This is why subs and pizzas are usually a great hit!
Organize Pool Activities
The highlight of any pool party is the activities that are going to be involved. Water games are plentiful and many of them get everyone involved by providing activities that spread from the deck into the water. Try to have a few games in mind and be sure to suggest a few to prevent the party from getting dull. Just keep in mind that the pool deck is going to be slippery when wet, so make sure everyone puts safety first.
